Thales India Software unit was set up in 2006 at Chennai to build a sustainable software production center dedicated exclusively to Thales, with the ability to address the full life cycle of a software project. The aim is to fulfill the need in the huge market for air traffic control software
We are looking for a Group Leader – DCS (Data Communication System Design) to lead a team to design, build, test and implement Information Technology solutions for deliverable and non deliverable projects and provide technical support for a secure network environment.
The job missions and responsibilities :
- Plan, organise and execute activities to ensure that all project deliverables are completed in a timely manner.
- Manage effective communication between department manager, project manager(s) and othergroup leader(s) and provide timely updates on all project deliverables.
- Install,upgrade and configure network and related services such as printing, directory structures, rights, security, software, file services, data backups and any other deliverable and non-deliverable IT requirements.
- Install and test necessary software and hardware for both deliverable andnon-deliverable products.
- Prepare and maintain necessary documentation for all hardware and software, both for deliverable and non-deliverable products, in a professional format.
- As a network administrator on the project environment, monitor and analyze the network using various monitoring and management utilities as required.
- Design and implement methods for troubleshooting and problem resolution locally and remotely.
- Upgrade network hardware and software components as required, along with any documentation.
- Provide internal secure users with technical support when necessary.
- Ensure that company procedures and implementation standards are adhered to.
- Document any policies or procedures that are to be implemented.
- Maintaining infrastructure for providing a quick turnaround time for problem resolution. Provide level 2 support for internal Helpdesk with timely closure of calls.
- Maintaining an infrastructure for quick resolution time for disaster recovery of workstations, servers and other computer equipment.
- Create and maintain a database for inventory of hardware and software, and policing of software and vigilance for any activities that do not confirm to Thales’ policies and procedures.
Candidate’s Profile:
- Minimum of 4 years of Windows NT 4.0 Server/Workstation experience
- Experience on Microsoft Terminal Server and MetaFrame Citrix client server environment
- Experience in a UNIX environment would be an asset
- Excellent understanding of networking, networking protocols and networking devices.
- Experience in Windows 2000 Professional and Server.
- Excellent & demonstrated interpersonal & leadership skills
- Strong knowledge in computer systems architecture; experience with configuration, support and maintenance.
- Knowledge of hardware RAID and disk array systems
- Knowledge of office automation and experience in using scripting or programming languages in the windows environment.
- Knowledge of and experience with OS/2 product would be an asset.
- Familiarity with backup and archiving software systems. Experience with IBM’s Tivoli Storage Manager would be an asset.
